Update: Victim identified in Cross Creek Apartments murder
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WFIE) - Police say one person is dead after a shooting in Madisonville on Sunday.
The Madisonville Police Department confirmed a shooting at the Cross Creek Apartments located just off Island Ford Road.
On Monday, police identified the victim as 27-year-old Terrance Minor of Earlington.
According to a release, officers were called to the apartments around 3:10 p.m. in reference to possible shots fired.
Officers say when they arrived, they found Minor dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police say while on scene they spoke with a tenant of the apartments who told them Minor was shot shortly after entering the building.
According to a police report, 21-year-old Raleigh Lamar was arrested in connection to the shooting.
MPD says Lamar admitted to officers during an interview that he shot the gun which resulted in the Minor’s death.
Lamar is facing a murder charge and possession of a handgun by convicted felon charge.
A police report also shows that a second person was also arrested in the shooting.
That person was identified as 20-year-old Quortez Greenwood.
Police say during their investigation authorities were unable to find the murder weapon. It was later discovered that Greenwood took the gun from the scene.
According to officials, Greenwood admitted to police that he was “trying to help out a friend” and that he hid the gun.
Greenwood was arrested and booked into Hopkins County Jail where he is facing a tampering with physical evidence charge.
