Mohammad joined the 13 Newsroom in September 2021 as a Sports Reporter and Anchor after spending 14 months in the same role with SWX in Missoula, Montana. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, he's very, very excited to return to his home state.
During his time in Big Sky Country, Mohammad got to cover all things Western Montana sports - including the Montana Grizzlies! Along with anchoring and reporting, Mohammad performed play-by-play of Montana Grizzlies and Montana State Bobcats basketball and softball broadcasts for SWX.
Before falling in love with the outdoors in Montana, Mohammad got his start at the University of Kentucky where he graduated in 2019 with a broadcast journalism degree. He wore multiple hats as a student, most notably as an assistant sports editor for the award-winning Kentucky Kernel student newspaper. His feature on Lynn Bowden's 2019 Belk Bowl performance earned him 1st place honors for "Best Sports Story" from the Kentucky Press Association College Awards. On top of writing for the Kernel, he interned with LEX 18 News and served as a high school sideline reporter for ESPN Sports Radio 1300 in Lexington.
When Mohammad isn't telling some of the best sports stories that Southern Kentucky has to offer, he's probably perfecting his newest dish in the kitchen, or he's out enjoying the outdoors through hiking, tubing, kayaking and paddleboarding. If you've got any food/restaurant recommendations, story ideas or want to rant about the Reds and Bengals, email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
