2 men land behind bars on drug charges after traffic stop in Logan County

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) -- Two men land behind bars on drug charges after a traffic stop in Logan County.

Deputies stopped a 2014, gray Nissan on West 9th Street in Russellville, on Sunday for a speeding violation.

When officials approached the driver, Antonio Mabon, and his passenger Laterrell Richard, officials say they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the passenger side of the car.

Authorities then proceeded to search the vehicle, during the search officials found a small bag of cocaine on the driver side floor and another small bag of cocaine in the middle console.

Police also found a plate with cocaine residue and marijuana near the passenger seat.

Officials say, both Mabon and Richard claimed it was cocaine and that it was theirs.

Both men were arrested on possession charges among others.
