BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Parts of Warren County will be getting access to a 1 gigbit connection.

AT&T plans to launch the service on a 100 percent fiber network to area homes, apartments, and small business locations.

“With today's announcement, more Kentuckians will be able to access the internet at the speed of light,” said Sen. Mike Wilson. “I am glad to see these continuing investments from the private sector and am certain that the increased ability to tout Warren County’s connectivity to fiber-optic internet further strengthens the reputations of our communities.”

“The investments AT&T is making in Kentucky are delivering the modern communications services that Kentuckians demand, and we are excited to extend our 100% fiber-optic network even further throughout the Commonwealth to bring gigabit class speeds to residential and small business areas in Warren County,” said Hood Harris, president, AT&T Kentucky. “The hard work of the men and women at AT&T is turning our investments into high-speed connections that can serve as catalysts for new jobs and economic growth.”

“AT&T Internet 1000” is the fastest internet speed tier on the network, and is offered at $70 a month for customers who bundle with another AT&T service, or $80 as a standalone service.

AT&T says 25 songs can be downloaded in 1 second, and a 90-minute HD movie can be downloaded in less than 34 seconds.

AT&T has invested nearly $700 million in its wireless and wireline networks in Kentucky between 2014 through 2016.
