BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A group of Bowling Green firefighters is back from battling the blazes in eastern Kentucky.
Captain Daniel Ashley told us the Division of Forestry had requested their help attacking the flames that had destroyed some 25,000 acres.
"We were out during the days cuttin' fire lines with rakes and leaf blowers and dozers," said Captain Ashley, "and workin' usually from nine till eight, ten o'clock at night."
Captain Ashley says as they cut down the trees other firefighters would bulldoze them out of the way, creating a 10-foot dirt path fire line to prevent the fire some spreading across the mountain. As of Tuesday evening, the wildfires have taken three lives.
