BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO)-- The city of Bowling Green held its third block party in the community in the past nine days and Thursday's event was held on Sandra Street.
The group, known as #BGGovToGo, had free food, lawn games, as well as a bicycle safety course presented by Bike-Pedestrian Advisory Council.
Officials say last year residents on Sandra Street expressed how helpful it would be to have a sidewalk connection to Morgantown Road so they could walk to the new sprayground and other playground equipment recently added to Lampkin Park.
"Due to some changing in our criteria for a new sidewalk construction program," Karen Foley, Neighborhood Services Coordinator said, "we can actually share the good news that Sandra (Street) and Potter (Avenue) will have a connecting sidewalk from where the sidewalk currently ends on Sandra over to Morgantown Road."
Foley says they're currently working on designs and the sidewalk project is supposed to be planned for this fiscal year with the goal by this time next year for the sidewalk to be complete.
She adds that if you'd like to host a block party in your neighborhood contact the city at (270)393-3444.
