BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Four Bowling Green Police Officers are walking across the commonwealth to honor fallen officers.

This is their third consecutive year for the Walk Of Remembrance which is organized by BGPD officers, Shawn Helbig and Jason Franks.

Each mile walked is dedicated to an officer killed in the line of duty.

All the money left after expenses is donated to an organization that helps surviving family members of fallen officers.

Bowling Green Police Sergeant, Shawn Helbig says the walk is all about showing respect.

"You know we do this to show respect for those officers who gave their life in the line of duty, protecting their community, says Helbig. "They didn't know the people that they died for, they were just doing their jobs like we all do."

Of the 143 deaths being honored, one officer is from Kentucky.

Louisville Metro Officer Nicholas Rodman is being honored after he died in a crash that occurred during a police pursuit.
