Bowling Green kicks of holiday season with 'Downtown Lights Up'

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The holiday season officially kicked off in downtown Bowling Green as thousands of lights were lit and showcased to the community.

6,000 lights were strung around parts of Fountain Square Park. Folks from all across South Central Kentucky gathered to see them officially be lit.

Many in attendance say it gets them in the holiday spirit.

Other items on Friday evening's agenda were trolley rides and a visit from Santa Claus.

The event has gone on for at least four decades, according to Mayor Bruce Wilkerson, and there are no plans of stopping anytime soon.
