BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The project involving Smallhouse Road in Bowling Green is in full swing.

The City of Bowling Green will be moving onto phase 2 of the project. They held an open house for the public on Thursday as they move forward.

Greg Meredith, the director of public works, says phase 2 will widen sections of Smallhouse Road, Highland Way, and Ridgecrest Way.

There will also be a curb, a gutter, and sidewalk installed.

"Peak hours in the morning and afternoon will be a lot easier to navigate through this portion of Smallhouse," says Meredith. "A little congestion and heartache while the work is going on, but after it's done we think it will be a big improvement."

The purpose of the projects is to allow the center lane of traffic to get out of the way of driving lanes.

Meredith says the work going on is a continuation of the work already happening in the area.
