Bullet misses Bowling Green woman putting Christmas lights up

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A woman was putting up Christmas lights at her home December 3 when she heard a bullet fly over her head.

June Colson was decorating on Wilderness Trace Court when she heard gunfire in the distance that sounded like it was coming from the field behind her house.

While Colson was putting up lights next to the driveway, she said she heard a bullet fly over her head. She lay on the ground until the gunfire stopped, then called the Bowling Green Police Department.

Colson and her husband, Jason Colson, walked around the house and found damage to the metal flashing on the upper level of their home. A bullet was found lodged in the flashing, but appeared to be there for an extended period of time, and not from this incident.

Officers searched the area but did not locate anyone or a position where someone would have been shooting.
