BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO)--- Yesterday's flash flood has people cleaning up the damage today on Old Hartsville Road.

We cleaned up mostly yesterday just squeegeeing and shop-vacs, whatever we have back there to clean up with," says Johnathan Doolin, who was at his friends automotive shop when he began seeing water come inside from the nearby flooding creek.

"I know it floods back there so I didn't pay any attention to it, I was inside here most of the time but when I noticed the cars slowing down i got up to look and the road was already covered," he says.

Several places in the area suffered major damage, even leaving a BBQ restaurant totally destroyed.

Virginia Geiske from Crocker Animal Hospital says she and her coworker escaped the building, rescuing the dogs and cats that were there as well.

She admits, it was one of the scariest moments of her life, and now she and others are left cleaning up the mess.

"We kinda just opened the doors and about two-feet ran out by itself," says Virginia about returning to the clinic to asses the damage.

"We had a lot of equipment that has been destroyed and we're just going to have to replace all of that," she says.

Virginia and her coworker hope to have the doors open on Monday, but after having cleaned all day, she says there is still a lot of work left to do.
