KENTUCKY (WKYT/WBKO) -- Former Kentucky Attorney General Greg Stumbo has confirmed he will once again run for the AG seat in 2019.
Stumbo spoke with WBKO's sister station in Lexington, WKYT, about the announcement on Saturday. He told reporters that his interest is in fighting the opioid epidemic.
Stumbo served as attorney general in Kentucky from 2004 until 2008. He is also a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and currently works as an attorney in Eastern Kentucky.
Stumbo said his decision to run came after current Attorney General Andy Beshear announced he would run for governor.
Stumbo is the first democrat to announce a run for the office.
