FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Officials have identified the man who died in a house fire on Christmas Eve in Franklin.
The Simpson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 37-year-old Justin Holcomb.
They add, that a preliminary autopsy report indicates Holcomb died of smoke inhalation.
13 News spoke with neighbors on Tuesday including one who went by the house as it was up in flames.
Chris says, "and I yelled, is anyone in there, Justin? Is anyone in there, and... I didn't hear nothing."
Chris adds, "I know something was wrong when I looked to the left just the heat, it was so hot... only the left side of the house was on fire at the time, so that's his room, it was his room that was on fire, it was that side of the house."
Another neighbor, Chris Holliman says, "I ran over there and started busting windows. And I was praying and hoping he was with his mother. "
Holcomb was the only victim in the fire.
Franklin Fire Chief Leslie Goodrum told 13 News four units were called to a structure fire at 609 Mayes Lane at 5:50 a.m. Monday, December 24. When firefighters arrived, they found the one-story home fully involved.
There was one fatality; a man believed to be in his mid 30's. No name will be released until his next of kin are notified.
Chief Goodrum says they are investigating the possibility this was an electrical fire. He has contacted the state fire marshal's office to request an investigator to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
