BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --- The Girl Scouts of America celebrated its 107th birthday on Tuesday.

The first-ever Girl Scout troop meeting was held in Savannah, Georgia on March 12th, 1912.

To celebrate, the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana partnered with the Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green and Girls with Pearls at Parker Bennett Curry Elementary to sponsor an in-school girl scout gathering on Tuesday.

"We wanted a presence of Girl Scouts here in Parker Bennett Curry, so we went to the principal to be able to partner with Girls with Pearls to provide them with girl scouting," said Felicia Brand, Recruiter for Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.

Cake BG donated Girl Scout cookie-flavored cupcakes along with a thin mint cake for the event.

Several people attended including former Girl Scouts from Bowling Green.
