Giving shots to the shot-givers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- In an effort to inoculate their staff against the flu so they can be healthy when they take care of patients, Med Center Health in Bowling Green conducted a drive-thru flu shot clinic for its employees Friday.

It started at 6:30 a.m. and was a steady stream of cars all day. Officials say the drive-thru makes it easier for their employees to get their flu shots.

"It's just a way to remove the obstacles and barriers so our employees, the health care workers, can come and get their flu shot," said Med Center Health Director of Employee Health Services, Vicki Weaver. "It's important for us to have the employees get the vaccine so they're healthy and able to take care of our patients."

Weaver also said, "We also do midnight clinics and weekend clinics, and a traveling flu cart where we go to their department and give them the flu shot."

Weaver says they want to get all their Med Center Health employees inoculated against the flu by November 11.
