Glasgow Police Officer fired after investigation

GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) -- Former Officer Tyler Maxey was sworn into the Glasgow Police Department less than a year ago, and on January 31 was fired.

"We received a complaint from an individual through City Hall that Officer Maxey was having inappropriate relations with this person's wife," said Chief Guy Howie, Glasgow Police Department.

That complaint turned into an internal investigation.

"He did meet with the lady while on duty, so he failed to pay attention to his duties, (and) exchanged messages with the lady while he was working," said Chief Howie.

Police say after the investigation there wasn't any finding of any sexual misconduct, but there were violations against the department and ethically as well.

"Officer Maxey was terminated for violating those regulations, but again the sexual misconduct was not sustained," said Chief Howie. "We have an obligation as police officers to uphold our ethics, this is an honorable profession and officers need to act honorably."

Chief Howie also says that Tyler Maxey was a good guy and a good officer. 13 News will continue to follow this story as more information comes to light.
