Grace Siegert's 2nd Grade Class

The JA Classroom of the Week is Grace Siegert’s 2nd-grade class at Parker Bennett Curry Elementary School. Her class was led by JA Volunteer Heather Garcia who is the Marketing Manager for WKU’s Regional Campuses. The 2nd grade Junior Achievement program is titled “JA Our Community” and it focuses on using posters and games to offer practical information about businesses and the many jobs those businesses offer in a community. Students explore production methods through a simulation game, and they learn about taxes, decision making, and how money flows in an economy. Heather’s favorite part of volunteering for JA is seeing the students’ eyes light up when she enters the classroom. She also said, “Junior Achievement provides meaningful volunteer opportunities. I know that my small contribution of time makes a BIG impact on one’s life. Junior Achievement provides you with what you need to be successful in the classroom. I’m grateful that WKU allows me to give back in our community and I encourage others to give it a try and invest in our future.”
