According to Greenwood High School's Oar Club President Aashir Ahmed, this weekend's third annual Dance Little Red event brought in $7,173.93 for Norton Children's Hospital.

Ahmed said this was the school's most successful Dance Little Red to date. He said over the last three years, GHS has been able to raise more than $18,000 for the cause.

"Knowing that we are impacting the lives of these kids and their families has made it the most significant event through my high school career and one I will cherish my whole life," Ahmed said in a statement to 13 News.

Other local high schools also participated in their own version of Dance Little Red this weekend, bringing in money and support for Norton Children's Hospital. _______________________________________________________
In partnership with WKU's "Dance Big Red",Greenwood High School's "Dance Little Red" was held Friday night.

The event benefits Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville.

This year Dance Little Red hoped to raise $6,000 in contributions to WKU's event.

The event required students to stay on their feet for three hours to promote awareness about the length of children's surgeries as well as the doctor's labor.

One 6-year-old girl who was a patient at Norton's, and her family, spoke about her open heart surgery when she was just four months old.

"Thank you for dancing for me," said Shelby Brown, former Norton Children's Hospital patient.

"We just wanted to come out and just thank them all because you know in high school they have things to do other than come here, but they've chosen to come here tonight and take time out of their busy schedule and raise money for a hospital that means so much to us," said Leann Brown, Shelby's mother.

Students worked tirelessly since October to plan this event, for the third year in a row.

"You've seen some of the families that are here and the things that those kids have gone through and it is just awesome to be able to help them have money to have their procedures," said Madi Daniels, Greenwood High School Student.

Norton Children Hospital cares for more than 170,000 children from Kentucky and Southern Indiana each year.
