A convicted terrorist, who was living in Bowling Green at the time of his arrest, has his request to vacate his life sentence denied.
Mohanad Shareef Hammadi wanted his sentence vacated, set aside, or corrected claiming ineffective counsel and said he did not realize a life sentence was possible as a result of his plea.
His attorney said he never tells a defendant they are going to get a particular sentence because it's up to the judge.
The judge dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning it is dismissed permanently.
Hammadi pleaded guilty in 2012 to conspiring to ship thousands in cash, machine guns, rifles, grenades and shoulder-fired missiles to
al-Qaida in Iraq.
