Harrison county teacher charged with rape

Cynthiana, Ky --- (WBKO) Thirty-seven year old Amanda Phillips of Cynthiana has been indicted on by the Harrison County Grand Jury the following charges: 4 counts of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, 8 counts of Rape 2nd Degree and 4 counts of Sodomy 2nd Degree.

This comes following a complaint received by Kentucky State police of a inappropriate relationship between a student and a teacher.

After an initial investigation police charged Phillips with sexual abuse in the first degree.

At the time of her arrest Amanda Phillips was currently employed by Harrison County School District as a Special Needs Teacher. The victim in the case was a prior student and was over the age of 12 years old at the time of the relationship.

Phillips is currently being held at the Bourbon County Regional Detention Center.
