BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Two very special guests are coming to Bowling Green next week. Joe Kenda returns as guest speaker at the annual Crime Stoppers Eye-Opener Breakfast. But this year he's bringing his wife Kathy with him.
Just this month, Kathy was the subject of a recent Homicide Hunter episode showing what it's like to be the wife of a cop.
This is the script from a preview of that show:
A showdown with a live shooter puts Joe Kenda directly in the line of fire.
"He's announcing he's gonna kill his family. He's gonna kill us."
Which leaves his wife, Kathy, wondering if he's dead or alive.
"That scared the crap out of me."
"Linda, Linda is he okay?"
And it's not the first time Kenda's job has hit home this hard.
"I'm gonna kill your husband. I'm going to kill your kids. But first I'm going to kill you."
"Believe it or not my mom's pretty hard core."
Because being married to a cop is not for the faint of heart.
"I don't think you ever know what you signed up for until you're in the moment."
"I wanted to be a police officer. It was an occupation that had an element to it of maybe I'm not comin' home tonight. My wife, Kathy Kenda, harbored that fear the whole time I was a policeman. But the job came first to me."
You can see and hear Joe talk more about his life as the Homicide Hunter at the Crime Stoppers Eye-Opener Breakfast at the Sloan Convention Center at 6-30 a-m Wednesday March 6. Tickets are $25.00
available at American Bank and Trust and Citizens First Bank."-
