Deputy Coroner Dwayne Lawrence told 13 News the person was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m.
Officers described the body as being heavily decomposed and their investigation centers around identifying the remains and determining a cause of death.
"This is going to be a scene that is going to be difficult to process just because of the area and the nature of the decomposition," said Ward.
BGPD will be on the scene for several hours and given the location near Kroger they ask the community to give them space to investigate the cause of death.
