Who doesn't love animals? Especially puppies!

Saturday is National Puppy Day, a day dedicated to celebrating our furry little four-legged friends.

Although it all may seem nice and dandy, owning a pet can get expensive, not to mention if the pet is a puppy it requires a lot more time and care.

Leah Lawrence at the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society spoke on caring for your little pup.

"One thing that people may not always think about though is that puppies are extremely high amount of work they're also very expensive. Whenever you adopt a puppy we just ask that you really think about the lifespan of a dog depending on the breed, dogs can live anywhere from 12 to 18 years plus, so it's a long time commitment."

Lawrence also says the public needs to be aware that most of the time puppies leave with their first set of shots and they will need to come back for checkups.

So however you celebrate National Puppy Day make sure you appreciate your furry friend.
