BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- In Centennial Mall on WKU's campus, university leadership held the investiture ceremony of WKU's tenth president, Dr. Timothy Caboni. The ceremony was held to officially mark the beginning of his tenure on the Hill.
During his address, Caboni took the opportunity to outline his strategic plan for the university.
"So today though is not a celebration of me or my presidency, it really is about the university and the opportunities ahead," he said, "how we all work together in our shared vision to help elevate WKU."
Among other goals, Caboni discussed creating a living-learning community on the south end of campus to focus on increasing retention of first-year students, as well as raising a "WKU Opportunity Fund" of $50 million to support needy students. He also spoke of designating an "Innovation Campus" for students and regional economic players to innovate for the future.
"What we must do is help students earlier find their place, find their path, and be directed on it; have the support systems available to help them reach that goal, and do it in a way that is as affordable as possible," Caboni said.
