James Comer focusing on rural America after win

THOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) -- Monroe County's James Comer was the big winner in the 1st Congressional District.

The former Kentucky agriculture commissioner defeated Democratic opponent, Sam Gaskins with over 70% of the vote.

Comer actually won two elections for the same office.

He will serve a two year term alongside a two month term, created when Congressman Ed Whitefield retired from office.
