A Rineyville man woke up behind bars Friday morning after officials say he hit bicyclist with his car and kept driving.

State Police say, Thursday morning, they responded to an accident with injury of a bicyclist near the North Dixie Hwy and Bullion Boulevard interchange in Hardin County.

State Police say Brian Casey, 58, was driving southbound on US 31W when he hit Louisville native, Charles Montgomery, 24, who was traveling southbound in the emergency lane.

They say after Casey hit Montgomery, he continued driving before stopping on Preston Street in Radcliff.

The Hardin County Coroner's Office says Montgomery was found dead at the scene.

Casey was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and was later charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of the accident.

If found guilty of these crimes, Casey could spend up to ten years in prison.

Casey is waiting in the Hardin County Detention Center for his court appearance Friday at 8:30 a.m.
