UPDATE: Name released of woman fatally struck by charter bus on I-65

Kentucky State Police have released more information surrounding the collision overnight on I-65 involving a charter bus and a woman and her dog.

Police have identified the woman as Penny Lane, of Cross Plains, Tenn.. They say she entered the northbound lane of travel with her dog, crossing into the direct path of the bus, driven by Douglas Wallace of New Albany, Indiana.

She was struck by the bus, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there were 19 passengers on the bus, but neither them nor the driver were injured.


Kentucky State Police have confirmed a fatality on I-65 North Tuesday night.

Officials say a woman and her dog have lost their life after walking on foot on I-65 North between the 8 and 9 mm.

They say a commercial vehicle hit the woman and her dog.

Tuesday night, two lanes of the interstate were closed.

This is an on-going investigation and we will have more information as it is given to us.
