MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WBKO)-- Kentucky State Police are investigating a two-car fatal crash on KY 139 North, just south of the intersection of Carner Hill Road, on Sunday morning.

KSP says they believe Travis Hale, age 25 from Princeton, was driving northbound on KY 139 N, south of Carner Hill Rd. and Jeraldine Reece, age 72 of Princeton was driving south.

Police say they aren't sure why, but Hale’s vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane. They say Reece swerved to avoid a head on collision, crossing into the northbound lane; Hale then swerved back into the northbound lane, hitting Reece's vehicle head-on.

KSP says Reece was wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Caldwell County Coroner, Dewayne Trafford.

Troopers say Hale was not wearing a seat belt, and was transported by Caldwell County EMS to Caldwell County Medical Center for injuries from the crash.

KSP, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, the Princeton Fire Department, the Caldwell County EMS, and the Caldwell County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation by the KSP.
