Kentucky State Police say a car crash on I-65 in Simpson County turned fatal.

KSP responded to the accident just before nine Friday night. A preliminary investigation revealed that 53-year-old Perry Cochran of Bowling Green was southbound when he side-swiped a tractor trailer driven by 42-year-old Sukhbir Kalkat of Brampton, Ontario.

Cochran's truck then traveled off the roadway and hit a guardrail, ejecting him from the vehicle.

KSP says Cochran was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

Cochran was pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner, Gary Crafton.

The investigation is ongoing, and is being lead by Trooper Bartley Weaver.
