UPDATE: Person identified in I-65 death investigation

The Kentucky State Police have identified the deceased man found under the Scottsville Road (US231) overpass located at the 22 mile marker of I-65 northbound, as Salim L. Bekirov (51) of Bowling Green.

No foul play is suspected.

Kentucky State Police Received a call in reference to a person lying in the Northbound lane of Interstate 65 under the Scottsville Road (US231) overpass located at the 22 mile marker.

KSp located an unresponsive male below the overpass when they arrived.

The preliminary investigation revealed that an unidentified male was located in the right lane going Northbound. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the Warren County Coroner's Office.

The cause of death is unknown and an autopsy is being ceompleted at the Medical Examiner's Office.

The Kentucky State Police has opened a death investigation and it is being led by Detective Jonathan Johnson. Detective Johnson was assisted on scene by the Bowling Green Police Department, Medical Center EMS, Alvaton Fire Department and the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

Kentucky State Police were called to a death investigation a little before 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say one male has been confirmed deceased near the 22 mile maker.

Detectives are on scene working to get details on the cause of death and identity.
