FRANKLIN, Ky (WBKO) -- Kentucky Downs is having its first major remodeling done in its 26 year existence.
The owners plan to knock down a few interior walls to open up the playing floor along with moving its full bar to an all new exterior glass enclosure. They also plan to give the outside an overall face lift by moving away from a completely brick exterior to a more modern look.
Ted Nicholson is the senior vice president of Kentucky Downs and he say that they plan on adding quite a bit to the complex after the remodeling is finished included in expanding the bar and adding more games. "We just added 125 machines and before the year is out we are looking to add another 125 that would give us a total of 750 machines."
Kentucky Downs will remain open throughout the remodeling process. They plan to have all the new additions completed by the first race in September.
