Kentucky's First Lady launches 2019 Derby poster contest

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WBKO) -- First Lady Glenna Bevin has announced the launch of the 2019 Kentucky Derby Poster contest for high school students across the Commonwealth.

Mrs. Bevin says students in grades 9-12 have the chance to create the officials Governor's Derby Poster, to be displayed in the State Capitol.

The theme is: "What does Derby Day look like to you?"

Three finalists will be invited to attend a luncheon at the Governor;s mansion, where the winner will be announced.

Mrs. Bevin says the first place winner will get the opportunity to be a guest at the Kentucky Derby Festival Luncheon and the Derby Eve Gala. Not only that, but the winner will also receive a $500 scholarship.

Second place will receive a $300 scholarship. Third place will also walk away with a scholarship of $200 from Derby Celebration, Inc.

The deadline for submission is Thursday, February 28th.
