GLASGOW, Ky. The Mayor of Glasgow confirmed to 13 News that the LSC facility in Glasgow is closing.
LSC started as a small printing company in Chicago in the 1800s. The company then grew into one of the largest service providers in the world.
Tuesday, LSC Communications Inc. announced that it will close its manufacturing facilities in Strasburg, VA, Glasgow, KY, and Matton, IL.
"Last fall we tried to reach out to LSC and were hoping we could retain this one and they close something somewhere else but that didn't fall through and they decided to close this plant," said Harold Armstrong, City of Glasgow Mayor.
The closing of the three plants is expected to be completed by July 2020.
According to the letter from LSC Communications, the company anticipates that all employees will be separated from employment between March 16 and June 1, 2020 in Glasgow.
The City of Glasgow is working to help all 571 employees of the plant find other places of employment once the facility closes.
"They can contact this office, the industrial development director, as well as our economic development director, as well as the judge. We are going to try to set up interviews where they can come back and go through the process of trying to re-establish them a job somewhere," added Armstrong.
The facility in Glasgow has been around for around 50 years.
