Local woman with kidney billboard gets a donor for Christmas

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A local woman asking for a kidney on a Billboard finds a donor.

If you've driven around Bowling Green the past couple months, you may have noticed a billboard asking for a kidney. Becky Grise of Butler County is the face on that billboard.

After five months of the billboard being displayed, getting calls that got her hopes up, but didn't work out, Grise has finally found a match.

"What better gift than a Kidney for Christmas," said Grise.

A local donor saw the billboard and felt called to answer Grise's plea.

"He wanted to be the one to tell me," explained a tearful Grise. "I hadn't even heard from the time from University of Kentucky that my donor, or potential donor, had gone through."

On Sunday, Grise and her donor will meet face to face for the first time. The surgery is tentatively scheduled very soon.

"It's just been an emotional roller coaster that somebody could be that selfless to reach out to someone they don't even know and offer part of themselves, so that it might extend my life."

Grise would like to thank Scott Blann for working with her so efficiently on the billboard.

"I guess I still feel like I'm dreaming, that I'm gonna wake up and I'll be told this is not a reality," said Grise, "but my donor keeps assuring me [that] God's got this, it's going to be okay, and he wanted to be the one to tell me."
