Long-time WKU administrator honored for dedication to the University and faculty golf outing

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Dr. Raymond Cravens began his teaching career in 1958, and hasn't missed the faculty-staff golf outing in 60 years.

Cravens began on campus as a political science professor, and he's played in every staff golf outing since.

Western Kentucky students spend a lot of time in the building bearing his name, as in the Helms-Craven Library, and he was honored Friday morning for his dedication to the university as well as his dedication to hitting the links.

"Well, it's a nice recognition," he says, "and I'm overwhelmed. It's always been a pleasure, to me, to be in sufficient health to be able to participate."

Proceeds from the tournament support the student development fund in intramural-recreational sports, providing thousands for conferences, workshops and certification programs.
