MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- An investigation is underway at Muhlenberg County High School after officials say they were notified of a social media threat Thursday morning.
"The original post was directed toward the high school. Our high school is located on two campuses and it involved both," said Carla Embry, Community Relations Specialist at the Muhlenberg County School Board.
Extra law enforcement officers were patrolling the school Thursday and the school board says officers will be at the schools on Friday as well.
"School safety is our number one thing that we focus on each and every day and so with the threat of school safety being jeopardized, we have extra law enforcement at all of our schools today, elementary through high school," added Embry.
She went on to say, "I as a parent have children in both of the high schools as well, and I completely feel that they are in safe hands today."
The two high schools are divided up by grade level. One campus is for freshmen and sophomores, another is for juniors and seniors.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are working this case, including local and state officials.
This is an on-going investigation, we will release more information as it is given to us.
