Sunday night around 7:30 p.m., Barren County Sheriff's Deputies responded to 6958 Coral Hill Road.

The disturbance was domestic- a husband shot his wife in the arm and she fled the scene.

Today we learned that she fled to the home of off-duty Glasgow Police Offcer, Howard Garrison. He told WBKO off camera that the husband, John Williams, bandaged his wife up before she fled their home. Officer Garrison said that he made the initial call to authorities, requesting EMS for her. When he went outside, he saw Williams getting in his car with a rifle. Garrison called back, advising where Williams was heading, and that he was armed and dangerous.

The female was taken to T. J. Samson Community Hospital and later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. She has since been released.

As deputies looked for John Williams, they located him and a chase ensued, back to his home. Williams fired a gun multiple times, and Deputy Dean Crumbaugh returned fire.

At this time the suspect fired a gun multiple times and in response Deputy Dean Crumbaugh returned fire with his firearm.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Kentucky State Police are still investigating, but neighbors are stunned that this happened in their quiet community.

Doris Wharf has been a longtime friend of Williams' mother. She said the he lost his brother in a car accident, so this is the second son his parents have lost.

"I hugged and kissed her when I left today and I shook hands with her husband because they have my sympathy," she told WBKO.

She hopes that no more violence like this goes on near her home, or anywhere in the area.

"I hope it don't happen no more, oh goodness. I didn't even- if I'd have heard it, it would have really got next to me and I know it but I didn't hear it. Thank goodness I didn't hear it."
