BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --- The first meeting of the year for the NAACP Bowling Green/Warren County chapter was held today at Hillvue Heights Church.
Newly elected President Ryan Dearbone was sworn in last Tuesday.
Dearbone says he is looking forward to leading the chapter which will be celebrating its centennial year.
"The goals for the chapter are to be as visible as possible in the community, to be a place where people know they can come talk to the NAACP if they feel they've been discriminated against. We want to be able to make sure it's inclusive for anybody."
"The goal is to make sure that we're diligent in the community and that we're intentional about what we're doing. We want to make sure there is no racism in the community, there is no sexism, there is no discrimination based on your sexuality or your economic status."
Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at Hillvue Heights Church and are open to the public.
