BROWNSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) --- The Brownsville Fire Department had to call in help from seven different fire departments early this morning to put out a fire at Laura's Hilltop Restaurant.

The department responded to a call about a fire a little after midnight and decided to call for assistance once the fire spread to the roof.

"The cold temperatures have definitely been a battle for us tonight. We had to call in almost every department in the county and we've actually got two departments from outside the county."

Brownsville Fire Department firefighter Justin Meredith says they called in help from fire departments in Chalybeate, Wingfield, Bear Creek, Kyrock, Lincoln, Smith's Grove and Alvaton.

Meredith says they do not know the cause of the fire, or when it started, but that the damage is so severe, "the building is pretty much a huge loss."
