BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO)-- Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School is now one of 130 schools across the country to receive a library grant from the Laura Bush Foundation in 2016.
Earlier this week the foundation announced that more than $800,000 will be distributed to the schools. The library grant will allow the elementary school to order new books and materials for the library.
The school's Library Media Specialist, Laura Eason, said the students will have part in deciding what new books the school brings in with the grant.
"This money is going to help us buy more of the books the children want to read, replenish their old favorites and just add to our collection."
The Laura Bush Foundation has helped over 2,500 school libraries in the nation since it started in 2002.
Parker-Bennett-Curry is one of three schools in Kentucky to receive the grant in 2016.
The other two are Alfred Binet School and Maryhurst Academy, both of which are in Louisville.
