Bowling Green, Ky (WBKO) --- It's been a battle for the seat of retiring Kentucky State Representative, Jody Richards, who held the House seat since 1976.

Those candidates, vying for the 20th district were Republican Ben Lawson and Democrat Patti Minter.

Minter was victorious, by winning 52% of the vote.

"Well it has been an amazing evening. Former students of mine who live in New York City, who live across the state, have come in to be a part of our people-powered campaign and our people-powered celebration this evening and that really represents what this campaign is about. We've kept it positive, we've kept it people-powered, we have not run negative adds, we have not made statements that are full of falsehoods. That shows that you can keep it positive, keep it issue focused and that is the message that will take you to Frankfort," Minter said.
