Victim identified in Franklin shooting, 2 in custody

FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) - UPATE 4:45 p.m.: Police have identified the victim of today's shooting as Carl Flippin, 23.

Police have arrested 73-year-old Johnnie Bell and 47-year-old Christopher Yarbrough. Both are facing charges of tampering with physical evidence.

Yarbrough is facing another charge of criminal attempt to commit murder, while Bell is facing complicity to commit murder.

They're both being held in the Simpson County Jail.


UPDATE 3:00 p.m.: The Medical Center in Franklin is no longer on lockdown.


UPDATE 12:30 p.m.: Two people are now in custody.


Franklin Police tell 13 News they are at a shooting investigation on Brevard Street in Franklin. Police say one person has been shot.

Police say one suspect is in custody and they have another person of interest.

The person who was shot was taken to the Medical Center in Franklin. The Medical Center confirms the Franklin location is on lockdown, but police say it is not an active scene. The Medical Center says the incident did not occur at the Medical Center and all the patients and staff are safe. They are continuing to assess the situation and will follow protocol. The Medical Center also says the patient was transferred to another facility. Police say the victim was responsive and taken to Vanderbilt Hospital. He was treated for an injury to his head.
