Pop-up dental clinic provides free services for refugees at Rich Pond Baptist Church

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --- Refugees received free dental care and check-ups at Rich Pond Baptist Church Saturday.

"Rich Pond Baptist Church has been so great to host us this year and we're hoping to do it next year at First Baptist Church," said Houssouwo Daniel Tarnagda, Co-Director for Refuge Bowling Green.

The care was provided by the North American Mission Board's Send Relief.

Send Relief provides resources for refugees and internationals, victims of human trafficking, natural disaster or fire victims, and children in foster care.

"It means a lot to me, I am so happy to get this free dental care and check-up. I need to know if I'm sick or ok," said Thomas, a refugee from the Congo.

Refuge Bowling Green, a non-profit organization created this past September, collaborated with churches in Bowling Green to help connect refugees and the international population get the help they need.

"This is one way we can prove that Bowling Green is a great place to live. Because it is a place that brings all the nationalities in one city, to love them, and share the gospel with them," Tarnagda said. " So, it means a lot because you can see the smiles on the face of those people today, so that is a great thing for us."

Tarnagda is from Burkina Faso, a West African country.

"Me coming from another country, I had to go through so many difficulties and dental was one part of it. So, when I came here I saw the need because everyone is going to work but can't take care of their teeth. So, we decided to do a dental clinic working with all the churches to provide that," said Tarnagda.

"It means a lot for them. It means that someone cares about them. And it means that someone is looking out for them. Someone wants to put the love of Christ in their life." said Tarnagda.

Refuge Bowling Green would like to partner with all of the churches in Bowling Green "to do the work of God."
