UPDATE: No lane closures on I-65
UPDATE: The Kentucky Transportation Department says the Tennessee Department of Transportation told them crews finished the repairs and no lane closures will be taking place on I-65 on Friday.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation is temporarily taking I-65 down to one southbound lane, just across the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.
The southbound lane was down to just one lane during part of the day Thursday, and is scheduled to do the same Friday, April 6 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Crews are working on patching potholes.
"It's actually in a construction zone where they are working on the TN 109 interchange and it's also a choke-point where I-65 already goes from three lanes to two lanes, but now it's going from three lanes in Kentucky to one lane in Tennessee," said Wes Watt with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Watt went on to say that if you plan on driving into Tennessee on Friday, be aware of the possible congestion created by the road work.
According to Kentucky transportation officials, a message board near mile marker 14 will be posted to warn motorists well in advance of exit 6 and exit 2 about the traffic. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 crews from Simpson County will monitor the area for any incidents.
