BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Thursday 3,000 8th graders from 11 school districts in south central Kentucky converged on Bowling Green High School to get hands-on experience with the professions that could be driving our economy in the years to come.

They are working to connect their education to the path that will lead them to satisfying in-demand careers using the knowledge, skills, and abilities they've learned in school.

"To then touch and feel equipment from those sectors," said Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Meredith Rozanski, "and talk to professionals in those areas so they get a better feel for something that might resonate with them for their future."

The students learned about everything from helicopters to police dogs, to simulated surgery and robots, from 43 business partners who showed them the abundance of opportunities for successful careers right here at home.
