Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College and Kentucky Skills U (formerly Kentucky Adult Education), is offering a new program to help people earn a GED and a college certificate at the same time.

GED Plus alleviates cost concerns to attend college, one reason research says that adults are reluctant to attend.

“The GED+ Program is an exciting new collaboration allowing residents of south central Kentucky to earn both a GED and a short-term college certificate nearly simultaneously in less than four months,” says SKYCTC President Dr. Phillip Neal. “Several different certificates are available in Kentucky’s high-wage, high-demand sectors. The most exciting part is that you can start immediately, and scholarships are available to pay for tuition, fees and supplies, and there are plenty of great jobs with great companies that are ready for you. GED+ is available for people who are unemployed, or for companies who hire employees without a GED but would like for their employees to advance their education and skills attainment. We look forward to helping each person reach their educational and employment goals.”

Students can earn a tuition-free certificate in four months or less in one of the following fields:

- Healthcare

- Advanced Manufacturing

- Transportation/Logistics

- Business Services/IT

- Construction/Trades

GED Plus is open to Kentucky adults who have not earned a high school diploma or GED.
