The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is making a couple of changes to improve traffic flow in Warren and Allen counties.

Beginning Monday, May 22, the speed limit on U.S. 231 from Bowling Green to Scottsville has been increased from 55 to 65 miles-per-hour. The change was made after cabinet engineers did a comprehensive study when people who use that road asked about raising the speed limit.

"It should really help decrease travel time for those folks traveling in the area," says District 3 Public Information Officer Wes Watt. "It will also help the industries out getting their products in and out a lot faster, too."

The cabinet is also taking the median out of the intersection of Ken Bale Boulevard and Scottsville Road to create another left turn lane. Watt says this work will be done right after Memorial Day, and will result in two left turn lanes from Ken Bale Boulevard to Scottsville Road, one straight lane, and one right turn lane.
