Williams began his coaching career in 2012 at Furman and had been at Tulane since 2013. The former North Carolina standout played professionally for 14 years, suiting up for Atlanta, Seattle, Boston, Denver, Orlando, New Orleans and Los Angeles, as well as eight European clubs.
Williams played in three Final Fours for UNC and averaged 16.8 points and 4.2 assists as a senior in 1998. The cousin of Kevin Garnett, Williams hails from Greenville, S.C.
Williams joins previously-announced assistant Chris Cheeks and director of basketball operations Talvis Franklin on the 2015-16 staff.
