GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) -- Barren County deputies say they responded to a call on Tuesday night about a fight where a father was shooting at his adult son.

They say it was around 8:30 p.m. on Beaver Creek Boat Ramp Road.

Deputies say the father, 56-year-old Cary Lemons, told them he and his son had gotten into a fight that turned physical.

Lemons told deputies that during the fight, his son choked him, so he grabbed a .22 caliber pistol and fired two shots over his son. He said his son then ran down the hallway.

Lemons said he fired two more rounds until his gun jammed, so he then picked up a 9mm handgun and fired one more round into the wall where his son ran away.

According to Lemons' son, he was acting in self defense during the fight, and told deputies that once he got into the bedroom, he went out the window and ran until he saw the sheriff's department had arrived on scene.

Cary Lemons was charged with attempted murder- domestic violence and wanton endangerment 1st degree.
