Social Security phone scam circulating in Muhlenberg County

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- The Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Office is reporting a phone scam.

They say someone has been calling and telling people that Social Security card numbers are changing.

The scammer also states that they need a card number for verification.

The department says to not give out your Social Security number.

You can sign up on for the Kentucky Attorney General's scam alert system, by texting "KYOAG" to "468311", or by signing up on the website.
